I provide pre- and post-planning advice to optimise
acoustic design of spaces
I deliver consultancy services for both new and existing buildings addressing all aspects of architectural acoustics, providing the following expertise across commercial, residential, education and health sectors:
-
External Building Fabric specifications of glazed and non-glazed building elements to minimise noise ingress or egress;
-
Room acoustics investigations (in theatres, learning spaces, churches, recording studios, commercial spaces, offices);
-
Internal Building Fabric acoustic design review both for acoustic integrity and privacy and to meet building regulations requirements;
-
Sound Insulation Testing for Building Regulations.
I work together with planners, architects, designers and contractors. Following an initial consultation to ensure an understanding of the desired budget, character and finish of the project, I begin noise and vibration studies early on in the design process to assess site/space suitability, allowing any particular acoustic issues or concerns to be identified at the outset.
Following the planning permission stage, I help with detailed design including undertaking reviews of design proposals and tender returns to ensure ongoing alignment with the Client specification. I help with optimising design options to provide advice on the most practical and cost-effective solutions, by using my in-depth knowledge of regulations, construction methods and systems and the options of acoustic materials available in the current market.
During construction, I can provide site inspection monitoring as required and on completion, commissioning tests prior to handover.
I welcome all communication throughout all stages of a project and can attend design team meetings as required.
